What to Bring?

Please bring a valid travel insurance to all trainings, valid for the entire  curse duration and all travel to and from.
This is compulsory and we cannot accept any student without a valid insurance. Please forward a copy of your insurance to taotantricarts@gmail.com before your departure. Thank you.
Essentials
 Sarongs
You can buy these cheaply everywhere in Thailand and Bali.

Two or three sarongs are recommended. We will use these to cover our mats, as cover in massage etc.

In the hot weather you may even want to wear nothing else! The essential piece of kit for any Tantrika!

Picture
White Clothes
Bring a set of white clothes. We will use for some rituals. For men, simple pants and t-shirt is fine. For women you can choose either pants or a dress, as you like.

You can buy these locally at very good prices.

Picture
Sexy Clothes
We ask you to bring an item of clothing that you feel celebrates your sexuality, or opens up a new expression of creativity. It need to be a typical "sexy" outfit...just whatever liberates energy. From animal print to see-through, burlesque, all-white lacy, your favorite underwear or something you never dared to wear before! Go for it!
Picture
Notepad and pen
To make your own notes in. You will be getting a course book from us as well.
Some people like good old fashioned pen and paper, others use an ipad etc. but note that power sources can be a limitation if your technology runs out (or bring a back up battery)

Picture
Natural Massage Oil
This is an essential of any Tao tantric kit! It is best to have some completely un-fragranced and natural oil...if you can eat it then it is natural! You can buy coconut oil everywhere in Thailand.

Picture
Yoga/ Qigong Clothes
You will want a few sets of light and comfortable clothes for yoga/qigong. Bear in mind that it is about 30 degrees every day in Thailand! If you have some, then bring them with you. But there are many great options available at excellent prices locally to the retreats.
Picture
Blindfold or a Mindfold Eye Mask

You will need an eye mask for blindfolded meditations. This can be the kind you get on airplanes, or you may want to bring a special Mindfold.

Mindfold is a very special eye mask as it creates a pure field of darkness. This is not essential for our retreats, but is a great way to enter the Yin practices even deeper. You can buy for only $13 from amazon.com

Picture
Jade Egg (for women)

These are an essential item for female practice. They are crystal eggs made of jade (or occasionally other stones) and they must have a hole drilled in the thin end.
Bring one if you have one, else you can buy one from us. Prices are between 800-1600 baht depending on the quality of stone.
Please pre order your egg if you want to buy one from us.
Picture
Silk Cloth (for men)

The male taoist arts require the use of a silk cloth plus a clip. This is for weight lifting and other practices for the men only. It costs 400 baht to buy on the course.

Please contact David for more information on this.

(For those averse to silk you may use an alternative of your choice, but silk is the traditional material used).
Picture
Dance Veil (for women)

We like to have a veil to use as a dance prop for women. Once you have used one, you will want to keep one always! You can buy a proper veil or you can buy 2 meters of semi see-through material from a fabric store.
Picture
Water Bottle

They have a water filter at Neshima Restaurant for free refills. However, you will need your own container. We recommend to write your name on it in permanent marker so that it is easy to identify.

Picture
Flash Light

The location is set in jungle landscape. It has low level lighting, but you may want to bring a torch to navigate the landscape at night.
Picture
Mosquito Repellent
We are all different when it comes to mozzies! You know your own relationship with them! It's always better to have some repellent incase you need it. You can buy some herbal brands in Thailand.

There are many natural and effective brands available. We recommend avoiding brands with DEET in them as this is a very harsh chemical.
Picture
Sunglasses
OK...we might sound like your mother even reminding you of this...but it is worth getting proper UV protection glasses before you come rather than cheap copies in Thailand! Look for a UV symbol inside the arms of the sunglasses. Boots the chemist sells high protection sunglasses.
Picture
Rucksack on wheels
(not essential! Just recommended!)
It is very much up to you what luggage you bring it all in! However, we heartily recommend a rucksack that can also be wheeled. This way you can wheel it through airports, but carry it on and off ferries and along beaches on your back. One of the best on the market is Caribee. There is a video demo here...
Picture
Red Dress

We celebrate our sexuality and power with the colour red. Look for a simple red sun dress, or something more sexy and wild if you feel drawn! You can buy these easily in the local area.
Picture
, Yoga Mat (not essential!)

We have a supply of yoga mats so this one is not essential unless you have one that you particularly like to use, or if you want to do private practice in your room. Qigong is without a mat and we have thicker mattresses for massage, so yoga mats are not so vital.
Please note: you cannot remove yoga mats from the hall.
Picture
Leave at home...

No need to bring:
  • towels: provided one each in your room and changed weekly. Bring extra if you need more that that.
  • heeled shoes: not suitable on the stairs and beach. But could bring for dressing up!!
  • Make-up:it's too hot most days, but you can bring a little for dressing up events!

PictureTong Sala, Phangan
Shopping in Thailand
Of course you may stop over in Bangkok which has countless shops!

But you can buy most of what you need in the main port town of Koh Phangan....a town called Tong Sala. It has the advantage of being 20 mins away from the retreat locations and small enough to walk around, with excellent Thai prices. Here you can buy: amazing yoga/qigong clothes, beachwear, pharmacy items, coconut oil, yoga mats, fruit, stationery items (slightly limited choice), electronics including phones and computers, phone SIM cards, guitars and guitar strings (useful if you play!) and even superfoods from the new superfood cafe!

We recommend: Pan Fashion for clothes, which is on the cross roads nears the old food street market. Say you know Shashi for a discount on your shopping!!

Shopping in Bali
The best shopping for the course would be in the town of Ubud itself. This is lined with shops selling yoga mats, yoga clothes, clothes for the climate and it is famous for arts and jewellery.

Though it has many things of beauty, it is not so good for the practical! Get anything Western first.

However, it has excellent health food shops appearing all over town. You can buy organic toiletries, healthy snacks, health drinks and supplements. They also have many water bottles with positive vibe messages on!
